بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ وَٱلنَّجۡمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
[1]CONSIDER this unfolding [of God’s message], as it comes down from on high!
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
[2]This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded,
وَمَا یَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰۤ
[3]and neither does he speak out of his own desire:
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡیࣱ یُوحَىٰ
[4]that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired –
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِیدُ ٱلۡقُوَىٰ
[5]something that a very mighty one has imparted to him:
ذُو مِرَّةࣲ فَٱسۡتَوَىٰ
[6][an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature,
وَهُوَ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
[7]appearing in the horizon’s loftiest part,
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
[8]and then drew near, and came close,
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَیۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ
[9]until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer.
فَأَوۡحَىٰۤ إِلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ مَاۤ أَوۡحَىٰ
[10]And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal.
